KPM 1067 Big Beat Vol 2

The big beat here is plenty darn funky -- but in some really weird and wonderful ways too -- thanks to the genius talents of the mighty Alan Moorehouse, the legendary British maestro featured on this rare sound library album for KPM! Moorehouse is even more compelling than some of his funky contemporaries on the sound library scene -- because he's not only got a great way of cooking up a short, simple, soulful groove -- but he also puts the instruments together in really unusual ways, often to create sounds that veer past their simple origins, to make the grooves sound even greater! This album's a sound library masterpiece all the way through -- the kind of set that makes you realize why this under-exposed genre of music is regarded so highly by modern beatheads -- thanks to Moorehouse's use of organ, keyboards, funky drums, and a fair bit of acoustic guitar -- quite unusual for a KPM set, but all the more compelling. Titles inlcude "Boss Man", "Soul Skimmer", "Pop Pastime", "That's Nice", "West Coastin", "Angelic Gas", "Expo In Tokyo", "Rock It Again", "Rockin Boogie", and "Pop Mandolin".
PLEASE POST A COMMENT EVEN IF ITS JUST THANKS ITS ONLY POLITE AND AS MY MUM SAID A THANKYOU COSTS NOTHING

Thanks for bringing us all this music. I haven't had a chance to listen to it all yet, but I liked what I heard so far.

Thanks for the music man. I dig it.
This blog, Fleamarket Funk, and Fufu Stew are the top 3 blogs for the grooves nobody does it better. It amazes me that the vast majority of our society never hears this kind of music. The bubble gum music on the radio pollutes the ears of many. However, everybody that i turn on to funk and soul simply love it. MUCHO KUDOS for the selections. Keep it up!

Soul Diggs, another winner! I'm grooving on the Library joints pretty hard. I recognised a few of the tracks from the old Funk 45 Radio request line site so that was quite refreshing. Outstanding work as always...

Peace and blessings.

Hey there - I'm commenting as you request.

I haven't actually downloaded anything from the site (I haven't actually checked if the links work), but as someone who spent a lot of time trying to get hold of these library records (and in fact have most of them now), I'm happy that a site such as this exists.

What I did nab was the KPM 1000 series front cover to use as artwork on my MP3 player.

Awesome.

Another great KPM post. Just FYI, when I opened the folder, track #'s 10 and 12 appear to be missing. The rest of the tracks are numbered from 1-14. As I haven't found any precise track information on this album, i'm not able to verify that there are indeed 14 tracks on it, or which ones are missing. What is here is great, though. Thanks so much.

Thanks for the info. Yes, definitely 10 Hillbilly Child and 12 Rockin' Boogie were both missing from the folder. I even tried downloading the album again and it was the same thing. No one else seems to have mentioned anything about it, though. Maybe i'm just lucky, haha.

Jacko said...

Would you be willing to try and re-up them again?
